Spring is finally here, and that means warmer weather, flowers blooming, and Easter right around the corner. My kids get so excited about Easter baskets, egg hunts, and all the fun springtime activities, but I also love using this season to point them back to Jesus. One of my favorite ways to do that? Snuggling up with a good Easter book!
There are so many great Easter books out there, but today I want to share three that have been favorites in our house. They all have beautiful messages about God’s love, the meaning of Easter, and the beauty of new life in Christ. If you’re looking for some sweet, faith-filled books to read with your little ones this season, here are my top picks!
Spring Sings by Ellie Holcomb
If you’ve ever listened to Ellie Holcomb’s music, you know how beautifully she weaves faith into everything she creates. Spring Sings is no exception! This book is all about how creation wakes up in the spring—flowers bloom, birds sing, and everything comes to life. But what I love most is how it ties it all back to God’s love and how He makes things new.
The words have a sing-song rhythm that makes it extra fun to read aloud, and the illustrations are absolutely adorable. My kids love pointing out all the little details on each page, and it’s a great way to start conversations about how God’s creation reflects His goodness. It’s a quick, joyful read—perfect for toddlers and preschoolers with short attention spans!
The Garden, the Curtain, and the Cross by Carl Laferton
The Garden, the Curtain, and the Cross is such a great way to walk kids through the big picture of the Bible and how Easter fits into God’s story. It starts in the Garden of Eden, explains how sin separated us from God, and then walks through Jesus’s death and resurrection in a way that’s simple but powerful.
One thing I love about this book is how it repeats the phrase, “Because of your sin, you can’t come in,” when talking about the separation from God. But by the end, that turns into “Because of Jesus, we can go in.” It’s such a beautiful way to explain why Easter matters!
My five-year-old asked a ton of questions the first time we read this, which I took as a great sign. The illustrations are bold and engaging, and it does a fantastic job of connecting Easter to the bigger gospel story. Definitely a must-read!
God Gave Us Easter by Lisa Tawn Bergren
This one has been a favorite in our house for a while! If you’ve read God Gave Us You, God Gave Us Easter has the same sweet, conversational style. It follows Little Cub and her Papa as they talk about the meaning of Easter, how Jesus brings us new life, and how everything in creation points to God’s plan.
I love that this book makes the message of Easter feel warm and personal, like a cozy conversation between a parent and child. It also touches on deeper themes like sin and redemption in a way that’s gentle and easy for little ones to grasp.
It’s the kind of book that makes you want to curl up on the couch and have long talks with your kids afterward. Plus, the polar bear illustrations are just adorable!
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for books that celebrate both spring and Easter, these three are perfect for adding to your collection. They’re all engaging, faith-filled, and great for helping little ones understand the beauty of Easter.
